StarDragon 4800 put into scale production, HXT chips based on Arm Neoverse architecture become commercially available
Beijing, Jan. 14, 2019-Huaxintong Semiconductor Technology Company Limited (“HXT”) announced the commercial availability of StarDragon 4800 after a range of performance test and verification by early customers at its product launch conference. The launched product is HXT' s first Arm®-based domestic general-purpose server chip. This announcement represents the fulfilment of the company' s commitment made during the Big Data Expo this year.
Leading-edge CPU design based on the Arm NeoverseTM architecture, with outstanding performance and security
As the first generation of product introduced by HXT, the StarDragon 4800 is an Armv8-compatible 48-core processor chip, which differentiates itself with outstanding CPU design and performance. It is fabricated with the leading 10nm process in the server field, integrating 18 billion transistors in a 400-square millimeter silicon, and can execute up to 500 billion instructions per second. StarDragon 4800 is comparable to the mainstream high-end server chip products in the international market with high performance and low power consumption. In addition, it integrates a cryptographic module compliant with the Chinese commercial cryptographic algorithm standard, combined with a secure and controllable infrastructure to provide on-chip security for the application system.
“Arm Neoverse solutions will be foundational in enabling an infrastructure that can support a trillion connected, intelligent devices,” said Drew Henry, senior vice president and general manager, Infrastructure Line of Business, Arm. “The StarDragon 4800 is another example of how Arm is working across the ecosystem to deliver the performance, scalability, and efficiency required for next generation datacenters.”
Dr. Kai Wang, CEO of HXT said: "HXT is committed to providing the most advanced Arm-based server chips in China. From the perspective of server CPU design capability, performance, security and stability, the StarDragon 4800 represents the top-notch domestic server chip. At the same time, HXT has developed a clear roadmap for technology evolution. The launch of StarDragon 4800 lays a solid foundation for the technological evolution of our next generation products. We will continue to work with partners in the spirit of openness and collaboration to drive the development and success of the Arm ecosystem.”
Targeting commercial market and the localization of server chips
HXT continues to work with hardware, software and application ecosystem partners, covering server systems, firmware, operating system kernels, virtualization technologies, cloud-based software, cloud storage, databases, and security to create solutions and optimize performance for specific application scenarios.
StarDragon 4800 is targeting the data center server market to address customer requirements in the sectors of Internet, e-government extranets, telecom operators, and large enterprises, and will be the ideal choice for the demanding customers who seek for localized alternatives for its excellent security and reliability. Currently, the StarDragon 4800 has received positive feedback from many customers in applications such as big data analytics, web front end, distributed storage, Android cloud, network virtualization and trusted security etc.
Numerous cloud service providers, Arm ecosystem partners and software, and hardware providers attended the conference. Meituan, UIT, East China Computer, GigaByte among others, introduced or demonstrated the application of the Arm data center running on the StarDragon 4800 processors.
